Pretty Odd, yeah you can say that all right.
I remember a band by the name of Panic! At the Disco. Do you remember them? Oh yea, they’re the band that wore those masquerade masks, wrote lyrics that made you think, and really went over the bar of what is considered to be NORMAL emo/hard rock.
Where is this band now? Where did this band go? It’s hard, at least for me to listen to a band that created this original, up beat, and edgy sound turn themselves into a bad cover band. Don’t get me wrong Pretty Odd, their newest album, still happens to be very well done. Their songs are rather melodic, and have a sense of warm and fuzziness but, I think the fact that they deviated, from their original sound to one that mimics the Beatles and Oasis, is rather pathetic. I hope, for their sake, that they at least play half of their old album for this tour, because I really don’t think this CD is going to cut the mustard. People are going to say, “Who the fuck is this?” This is just another case of a successful band that sells a million records, and then thinks that gives them the right to become grown up, change their sound, and become more serious. Please, if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.
So go buy the album, because it’s still good. Although, maybe next time, Panic! At the Disco, think about how you killed a great image and stop trying to be British rock band, ok.
