Patricia Piccinini- Related Individuals 2008

I have been following Patricia Piccinini's work for quite some time now. I discovered her crazy style of sculpture through an art magazine I had subscribed to years back. I'm not going to bullshit you, her style can be quite disturbing to people. She brings you into a world of creatures that mimic features of both humans, Homo Erectus, and animal mixed together. Yet, the greatest thing about her work is, once you're up close to these sculptures, you begin to doubt yourself. Your mind starts to contemplate whether or not these beings are real. Are they breathing? Does their skin feel the same as ours? Her detail is remarkable. Her materials are top of the line. The emotion that these creatures posses make you both fear them, be disgusted by them, and love and care for them at the same time.
