In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions…

Rest in peace, Mr. Hughes.

I could probably go on and on about his films and details of his death, but a million other sites have done that already, so I'll just say that Pretty in Pink was always my favorite of his, and whenever the topic of Hughes movies comes up and I say that, I get a chorus of "seriously" and "but what about..." and I ponder for a second, but always come back to the same favorite. I don't know why. Maybe it's the music. Maybe it's Duckie and his dance sequence in the record shop. Maybe it's because of James Spader in the white suit with his shirt unbuttoned. Whatever the case is, that's the one... and it was a good one. (It probably is James Spader in the white suit... but the love story was cute, too. Though honestly... what kind of name is Blane?)

...and here is a picture of Duckie from the "Try a Little Tenderness" scene - 'cause it makes me smile.
