I seem to struggle with the Contemporary Art movement. Either I'm: 1) unimpressed ( which, in most cases, I am ). 2) angry at the fact that it would be considered art at all, or 3) totally moved by the idea/concept and infatuated by the construction.

Carsten Höller- THE SHADOW, 1997

I seem to struggle with the Contemporary Art movement. Either I'm: 1) unimpressed ( which, in most cases, I am ). 2) angry at the fact that it would be considered art at all, or 3) totally moved by the idea/concept and infatuated by the construction.

Here is one case where it's just a fat out "NO." ( LINK)

OK, I get the fact that this man is making the clever notion that his shadow and another man's shadow is trapped inside the pot before he sealed it. Great! Sounds more like a bad JK Rowling book if you ask me. I thought the purpose of found art objects was a strong history or story, which this one is obviously lacking, and that there was to be an emphasis on the finished product and execution. It's a fucking ugly commercial pot that looks like it's been collecting dust on the shelves of TJ Max somewhere.

I'm a art lover of all short. Far and wide - straight forward and bizarre, but please don't blow smoke up my ass.

Please comment and let me know your opinions.
